Opening of the Branch Office in Derby
With the branch office in Derby SCHWEIZER ELECTRONIC has set an important milestone in UK and enlarges the leading position for Automatic Track Warning Systems ATWS in Europe. Further synergies will be received with the choice of the location within the Catalis Rail Training centre one of the leading training organisations in the Railway industry. The office contains a classroom which is equipped with a complete set of MINIMEL®95 equipment. Now training can be provided in UK very close to the customers in the required quality of classroom training combined with practical exercises.
At the opening on the 18th of July people from Network Rail, Catalis Rail training, Safety Service provid-ers, maintenance contractors and the press have been present to join the opening ceremony. Colin Clifton, Head of Workforce Safety of Network Rail, said, he looks forward to a close collaboration in major track safety tasks between SCHWEIZER ELECTRONIC and Network Rail. He also pointed to the fact that Schweizer is the inventor of ATWS and today the most seminal manufacturer of automatic track warning technology. The fully electronic product line of MINIMEL®95 represents then also the third generation of Automatic Tack Warning equipment manufactured by the company (former systems are Minimel 90 and ARW5/2). The company is well introduced in the European market with the knowledge and experience in temporary, semi-permanent and permanent systems. Integration into the signalling system are common tasks in Switzerland and Germany and become more and more an essential target in the UK. Integration and definition of the interfaces require close communications and short distances between the ATWS manufacturer, the local engineering companies and the representatives of the rail-way infrastructure such as Network Rail. In regards to the future requests in Track Safety in UK the Branch office will play an important role to provide the solutions for the Railway from tomorrow. Rob Gordon the operational Director of Catalis Rail Training said from his point of view he can imaging a close collaboration in regard to training requests as this is one of the next key points coming along with the introduction of ATWS in regard of Rimini. Jörg Schweizer, MINIMEL®95 product Manager com-pared the situation with the 3 cantons (districts) who founded Switzerland more the 700 years ago. For this he used the arms from those 3 cantons. Network rail has got the arm from the canton Uri with a bull on it representing the force who introduced Rimini to increase the safety on the daily work on track, canton Schwyz with the white cross on red as Schweizer Electronic the Swiss company with the future orientated high quality products and Catalis with the arm from the canton Nidwalden showing two 2 keys as host for the branch office and the close contact to the UK Market.
